They Don't Tell You That
(A Campfire Play)
(The writer's suggestion for this play, is to take the campers for a sunset prophecy walk,
and perform this play at the end of the walk. Give them some marshmallows toasted or
plain, and have them back in camp before dark.)
Leader: Firstly - That the Lord is coming back to kill this generation after
He takes out His dead and alive believers. "But I would not have you to be ignorant,
brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have
no hope. For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep
in Jesus will God bring with him. For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that
we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are
asleep. For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the
archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:
Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to
meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.
Wherefore comfort one another with these words."
I Thessalonians 4:13-18
Campers: They don't tell you that.
Leader: Secondly - Unless those days of wrath were shortened no flesh would survive.
"When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the
prophet, stand in the holy place, (who so readeth, let him understand:) Then let them
which be in Judea flee into the mountains: Let
him which is on the housetop not come down to take any thing out of his house: Neither let
him which is in the field return back to take his clothes. And woe unto them that are with
child, and to them that give suck in those days!
But pray ye that your flight be not in the winter, neither on the Sabbath day:
For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to
this time, no, nor ever shall be. And except those days should be shortened, there should
no flesh be saved: but for the elect's sake those days shall be shortened. Then if any man
shall say unto you, Lo, here is Christ, or there; believe it not. For there shall arise
false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch
that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect. Behold, I have told you
before."
St. Matthew 24:15-25
Campers: They don't tell you that.
Leader: Thirdly - The anger of Almighty God upon this generation is like the anger He had
for the generation of the Flood and Sodom and Gomorrah.
"And when he was demanded of the Pharisees, when the kingdom of God should come, he
answered them and said, The kingdom of God cometh not with observation: Neither shall they
say, Lo here! or, lo there! for behold, the kingdom of God is within you. And he said unto
the disciples, the days will come, when ye shall desire to see one of the days of the Son
of man, and ye shall not see it. And they shall say to you, See here; or, see there: go
not after them, nor follow them. For as the lightning, that lighteneth out of the one part
under heaven, shineth unto the other part under heaven; so shall also the Son of man be in
his day. But first must he suffer many things, and be rejected of this generation. And as
it was in the days of Noe, so shall it be also in the days of the Son of man. They did
eat, they drank, they married wives, they were given in marriage, until the day that Noe
entered into the ark, and the flood came, and destroyed them all. Likewise, also as it was
in the days of Lot; they did eat, they drank, they bought, they sold, they planted, they
builded;
But the same day that Lot went out of Sodom it rained fire and brimstone from heaven, and
destroyed them all. Even thus shall it be in the day when the Son of man is revealed. In
that day, he which shall be upon the housetop, and his stuff in the house, let him not
come down to take it away: and he that is in the field, let him likewise not return back.
Remember Lot's wife. Whosoever shall seek to save his life shall lose it; and whosoever
shall lose his life shall preserve it. I tell you, in that night there shall be two men in
one bed; the one shall be taken, and the other shall be left. Two women shall be grinding
together; the one shall be taken, and the other left. Two men shall be in the field; the
one shall be taken, and the other left. And they answered and said unto him, Where, Lord?
And he said unto them, Wheresoever the body is, thither will the eagles be gathered
together."
St. Luke 17:20-37
Campers: They don't tell you that.
Leader: Fourthly - His weapons of destruction of flesh are by the sword, hunger, death and
the beasts of the field. "And I heard a voice in the midst of the four beasts say, A
measure of wheat for a penny, and three measures of barley for a penny; and see thou hurt
not the oil and the wine. And when he had opened the fourth seal, I heard the voice of the
fourth beast say, Come and see. And I looked, and behold a pale horse: and his name that
sat on him was Death, and Hell followed with him. And power was given unto them over the
fourth part of the earth, to kill with sword, and with hunger, and with death, and with
the beasts of the earth."
Revelation 6:6-8
Campers: They don't tell you that.
Leader: Fifthly - The rise of MYSTERY, BABYLON THE GREAT, THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS AND
ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH will end in one day. "I sit a queen, and am no widow, and
shall see no sorrow. In one day shall her plagues come in one day, death, and mourning,
and famine; and she shall be utterly burned with fire: for strong is the Lord God who
judgeth her."
"And after these things I saw another angel come down from heaven, having great
power; and the earth was lightened with his glory. And he cried mightily with a strong
voice, saying, Babylon the great is fallen, is fallen, and is become the habitation of
devils, and the hold of every foul spirit, and a cage of every unclean and hateful bird.
For all nations have drunk of the wine of the wrath of her fornication, and the kings of
the earth have committed fornication with her, and the merchants of the earth are waxed
rich through the abundance of her delicacies. And I heard another voice from heaven,
saying, Come out of her, my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye
receivenot of her plagues. For her sins have reached unto heaven, and God hath remembered
her iniquities. Reward her even as she rewarded you, and double unto her double according
to her works: in the cup which she hath filled fill to her double. How much she hath
glorified herself, and lived deliciously, so much torment and sorrow give her: for she
saith in her heart. I sit a queen, and am no widow, and shall see no sorrow. Therefore
shall her plagues come in one day, death, and mourning, and famine; and she shall be
utterly burned with fire: for strong is the Lord God who judgeth her."
Revelation 18:1-8
Campers: They don't tell you that.
Leader: Sixthly - The promiscuity and diseases among the maidens and women on the earth
will close the womb. "And it came to pass, when men began to multiply on the face of
the earth, and daughters were born unto them, That the sons of God saw the daughters of
men that they were fair; and they took them wives of all which they chose. And the LORD
said, My spirit shall not always strive with man, for that he also is flesh: yet his days
shall be an hundred and twenty years. There were giants in the earth in those days; and
also after that, when the sons of God came in unto the daughters of men, and they bare
children to them, the same became mighty men which were of old, men of renown. And GOD saw
that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the
thoughts of his heart was only evil continually. And it repented the LORD that he had made
man on the earth, and it grieved him at his heart. And the LORD said, I will destroy man
whom I have created from the face of the earth; both man, and beast, and the creeping
thing, and the fowls of the air; for it repenteth me that I have made them. But Noah found
grace in the eyes of the LORD."
Genesis 6:1-8
Campers: They don't tell you that.
Leader: Seventhly - Blessed are the paps which never gave suck. "And there followed
him a great company of people, and of women, which also bewailed and lamented him. But
Jesus turning unto them said, Daughters of Jerusalem, weep not for me, but weep for
yourselves, and for your children. For, behold, the days are coming, in the which they
shall say, Blessed are the barren, and the wombs that never bare, and the paps which never
gave suck. Then shall they begin to say to the mountains, Fall on us; and to the hills,
Cover us. For if they do these things in a green tree, what shall be done in the dry? And
there were also two other, malefactors, led with him to be put to death. And when
they were come to the place, which is called Calvary, there they crucified him, and the
malefactors, one on the right hand, and the other on the left. Then said Jesus, Father,
forgive them; for they know not what they do. And they parted his raiment, and cast lots.
And the people stood beholding. And the rulers also with them derided him, saying, He
saved others; let him save himself, if he be Christ, the chosen of God. And the soldiers
also mocked him, coming to him, and offering him vinegar. And saying, If thou be the king
of the Jews, save thyself. And a superscription also was written over him in letters of
Greek, and Latin, and Hebrew, THIS IS THE KING OF THE JEWS."
St. Luke 23:27-38
Campers: They don't tell you that.
Leader: Eighthly - This anger of God falls on one generation. The generation that sees
Jerusalem no longer trodden down of the Gentiles.
Jerusalem has not been trodden down of the Gentiles since the June War of 1967. Jerusalem
had been trodden down of the Gentiles since the reign of Nebuchadnezzar, king of Babylon.
"And when ye shall see Jerusalem compassed with armies, then know that the desolation
there-of is nigh. Then let them which are in Judea flee to the mountains; and let them
which are in the midst of it depart out; and let not them that are in the countries enter
thereinto. For these be the days of vengeance, that all things which are written may be
fulfilled.
But woe unto them that are with child, and to them that give suck, in those days! for
there shall be great distress in the land, and wrath upon this people.
And they shall fall by the edge of the sword, and shall be led away captive into all
nations: and Jerusalem shall be trodden down of the Gentiles, until the times of the
Gentiles be fulfilled. And there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the
stars; and upon the earth distress of nations, with perplexity; the sea and the waves
roaring; Men's hearts failing them for fear, and for looking after those things which are
coming on the earth: for the powers of heaven shall be shaken. And then shall they see the
Son of man coming in a cloud with power and great glory. And when these things come to
pass, then look up, and lift up your heads; for your redemption draweth nigh. And he spake
to them a parable; Behold the fig tree, and all the trees; When they now shoot forth, ye
see and know of your own selves that summer is now nigh at hand.
So likewise ye, when ye see these things come to pass, know ye that the kingdom of God is
nigh at hand. Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass away, till all be
fulfilled. Heaven and earth shall pass away: but my words shall not pass away. And take
heed to yourselves, lest at any time your hearts be overcharged with surfeiting, and
drunkenness, and cares of this life, and so that day come upon you unawares. For as a
snare shall it come on all them that dwell on the face of the whole earth. Watch ye
therefore, and pray always, that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these things
that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man. And in the day time he was
teaching in the temple; and at night he went out, and abode in the mount that is called
the mount of Olives. And all the people came early in the morning to him in the temple,
for to hear him."
St. Luke 21:20-38
Campers: They don't tell you that.
Leader: Ninthly - They say everything is the same since the world began, but it is not.
"Now upon the first day of the week, very early in the morning, they came unto the
sepulchre, bringing the spices which they had prepared, and certain others with them. And
they found the stone rolled away from the sepulchre. And they entered in, and found not
the body of the Lord Jesus.
And it came to pass, as they were much perplexed thereabout, behold, two men stood by them
in shining garments: And as they were afraid, and bowed down their faces to the earth,
they said unto them, Why seek ye the living among the dead?
He is not here, but is risen: remember how he spake unto you when he was yet in Galilee,
Saying, The Son of man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men, and be crucified,
and the third day rise again. And they remembered his words, and returned from the
sepulchre, and told all these things unto the eleven, and to all the rest. It was Mary
Magdalene, and Joanna, and Mary the mother of James, and other women that were with them,
which told these things unto the apostles. And their words seemed to them as idle tales,
and they believed them not. Then arose Peter, and ran unto the sepulchre; and stooping
down, he beheld the linen clothes laid by themselves, and departed, wondering in himself
at that which was come to pass. And, behold, two of them went that same day to a village
called Emmaus, which was from Jerusalem about threescore furlongs. And they talked
together of all these things which had happened. And it came to pass, that, while they
communed together and reasoned, Jesus himself drew near, and went with them. But their
eyes were holden that they should not know him. And he said unto them, What manner of
communications are these that ye have one to another, as ye walk, and are sad? And the one
of them, whose name was Cleopas, answering said unto him, Art thou only a stranger in
Jerusalem, and hast not known the things which are come to pass there in these days?
And he said unto them, What things? And they said unto him, Concerning Jesus of Nazareth,
which was a prophet mighty in deed and word before God and all the people: And how the
chief priests and our rulers delivered him to be condemned to death, and have crucified
him. But we trusted that it had been he which should have redeemed Israel: and beside all
this, to day is the third day since these things were done. Yea, and certain women also of
our company made us astonished, which were early at the sepulchre: And when they found not
his body, they came, saying, that they had also seen a vision of angels, which said that
he was alive. And certain of them which were with us went to the sepulchre, and found it
even so as the women had said: but him they saw not. Then he said unto them, O fools, and
slow of heart to believe all that the prophets have spoken: Ought not Christ to have
suffered these things, and to enter into his glory?
And beginning at Moses and all the prophets, he expounded unto them in all the scriptures
the things concerning himself. And they drew nigh unto the village, wither they went: and
he made as though he would have gone further.
But they constrained him, saying, Abide with us: for it is toward evening, and the day is
far spent. And he went in to tarry with them. And it came to pass, as he sat at meat with
them, he took bread, and blessed it, and brake, and gave to them, And their eyes opened,
and they knew him; and he vanished out of their sight. And they said one to another, Did
not our heart burn within us, while he talked with us by the way, and while he opened to
us the scriptures?
And they rose up the same hour, and returned to Jerusalem, and found the eleven gathered
together, and them that were with them, Saying, The Lord is risen indeed, and hath
appeared to Simon. And they told what things were done in the way, and how he was known of
them in breaking the bread. And as they thus spake, Jesus himself stood in the midst of
them, and saith unto them, Peace be unto you."
St.Luke 24:1-36
Campers: They don't tell you that.
Leader: Tenthly - They say what will be, will be, not knowing that "he who now
letteth will let, until he be taken out of the way." "Now we beseech you,
brethren, by the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, AND BY OUR GATHERING TOGETHER UNTO HIM.
That ye be not soon shaken in mind, or be troubled, neither by spirit, nor by word, nor by
letter, as from us, as that the day of Christ is at hand. Let no man deceive you by any
means:
For that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin
be revealed, the son of perdition; Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is
called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing
himself that he is God. Remember ye not, that, when I was yet with you, I told you these
things? And now ye know what with-holdeth that he might be revealed in his time. For the
mystery of iniquity doth already work: only he who now letteth will let, until he be taken
out of the way. And then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with
the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming: Even him,
whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders, And
with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not
the love of the truth, that they might be saved. And for this cause God shall send them
strong delusion, that they should believe a lie: That they all might be damned who
believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness."
II Thessalonians 2:1-12
Campers: They don't tell you that.
Leader: Conclusion - The Lord is coming back to take out His own and kill this generation
of vipers.
Campers: They don't tell you that.
